about

The Caps are officially releasing "Bike City" as a single (free download) for their second full length album, "Have A Blast" which will be released August 20th.

"Bike City" was written by Andrew Grimaldo and Chris Worth. It was recorded by Justin Higgins (who has recorded Blue Horns, The Hunches, White Fang) at Old Standard Sound for the forthcoming album, "Have A Blast."  The album was mixed by Mike Coykendall, who is known for his work with Blitzen Trapper, She & Him, Richmond Fontaine, and many other Portland bands.

"It was a pleasure to work with Justin and Mike", stated singer/guitarist Chris Worth. "We drank lots of coffee, ate some burritos, and eventually, we had an album."

Originally formed in the summer of 2006, The Caps are responsible for some of the catchiest pop tunes to come out of Portland. The band's summer pop sound has been compared to the Kinks, the Velvet Underground, Pavement, The Byrds and other classic bands. They released the Plastic Rings EP in 2007 and made several people happy. The band's first full-length album "Heading to the Coast" earned the band favorable reviews. Upon hearing "Heading to the Coast", Ned Lannamann of the Portland Mercury wrote "The Portland band's brief simple melodies contain just the right blend of breeziness and wistfulness, evoking the Beach Boys if they grew up on the misty Oregon coast."

After recording the Plastic Rings EP and Heading to the Coast, the Caps underwent a lineup change. The current lineup of Worth, Grimaldo, James Hall and Peter David began work on "Have A Blast" in January of 2011. The songs on the new album celebrate a more concise minimalist approach than their more orchestrated recordings of the past. The simplicity captures the band at its best. The band will play it's CD release show at The World Famous Kenton Club on August 20th, 2011. With a light-hearted sense of humor and a knack for writing bouncy pop-rock gems, the band wants to make your summer a great one.

So, go ahead. Take a ride with "Bike City."
